I had the privilege recently of attending a conference organized by the California Minority Counsel Program. The purpose of the conference was to promote the development of minority attorneys in the legal community. Several hundred attorneys throughout the state attended. A number of Fortune 500 companies were represented. Four of the five minority attorneys in our firm participated in the conference. I’m very proud of their involvement. They exemplify the changing face of our legal profession and demonstrate that diversity is not just about opportunities that law firms provide to minorities. It’s also about opportunities that minorities provide to us – to be better lawyers, to bring new perspectives to the table, and to better understand our clients and the challenges they face.
